- Howdy...
-
- We are currently trying to set up Trumpet under windows and have an
- IBM Token Ring card. We have tried the driver IBMTOKEN.COM in
- combination with WINPKT. But we are getting ARP time outs, even when
- trying to get to the gateway (which is definately up, verified from other
- sources). The network is fine, because others can get their systems to
- work. Is there anyone who has solved this type of problem before? And,
- if possible (might be asking too much here, but..) is it possible to get
- Netware to coexist? (we are currently using LANSUP ODI drivers, which
- aparently do not support the ethernet frame type!?)
-
- Anybody got any clues on this one?
-
- Thanks in advance,

- It's true. Notis scraped a deal together with Distinct. They (Notis) are
- including the Distinct PPP/SLIP stack and a ping utility with the WinGopher.
-
- They received too many complaints from customers because they (the customers)
- had bought the WinGopher and were unable to use it (duh) because they had no

-
- Shut down Chameleon, then click on the mail icon. The newt icon will come up
- and the mail window should follow shortly thereafter. You can then compose
- your mail offline and when you are done just press the send button. The mail
- will then be placed in the "outbox".
-
- You can then shut down mail. The next time you start Chameleon and make a
- connection, fire up mail and look under the "services" menu for "outbox".
- Open that up and your mail should be there. Just press send and you're done.
-
- As for receiving mail. You can override the default for retrieving mail from
- your pop server by looking under the "message" menu and then clicking on
- "retrieve mail".
-
- Enjoy!

- Subject: PCTCP 2.3 incompatibility?
-
- Hello all,
-
- I have 2 Winsock apps which give "gethostbyname" errors. One is Wintalk
- and the other is ws_gmail (an SMTP server for Winsock). I had wintalk
- working fine under PCTCP 2.2 and when I upgraded to 2.3 it quit working.
-
- I have verified that all entries in support files (hosts, pctcp.ini,
- etc) are the same between the two versions and are all valid.
-
- By using the 2.2 setup, everything works as before. So, I started
- substituting dll's. I found that the gethostbyname error only shows up when
- using the 2.3 pctcpapi.dll. If I load the known working 2.2 setup only
- replace the pctcpapi.dll, I get the error.
-
- Thus it appears that the new api is not 100% compatible with earlier
- versions.
-
- Can anyone verify this?
-
- David

- P.S. Part of this letter was sent directly to an FTP Inc support staff member.

-
- Chameleon doesn't try, Tattum's does but fails to do so properly (Win/QVT,
- for example, fails to find <local> config and fails to come up properly).
-
- I'd rather have something unsupported than claimed and not properly working.
